Stephen Appiah has revealed that the Black Stars players are eager to shine at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that the squad is fully determined to make a strong impression on the global stage.

The four-time African champions will make their fifth World Cup appearance at the tournament to be hosted in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, with the Black Stars hoping to bounce back strongly after group-stage exits at the 2014 and 2022 tournaments in Brazil and Qatar respectively.

“The players cannot wait to get to the Mundial to perform and show what they can offer the team. As a Ghanaian, I am happy because with the support of the country, the players are determined to impress at the World Cup,” Appiah told Asempa FM.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on June 17 before taking on England in Boston on June 23. They will conclude the group phase against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 27.

Ahead of the tournament, Ghana will play international friendlies against Mexico on May 22 and Wales on June 2 as part of preparations for the Mundial.
