Fire Breaks Out at Avenor's North Industrial Area, Accra
An early-morning fire has broken out at the North Industrial Area in Avenor, Accra, sending flames and thick smoke rising over the area, which is home to both businesses and residents.
The blaze was first noticed in the early hours of Thursday, October 1, with photographs and videos taken from nearby buildings showing smoke billowing across the skyline well before sunrise.
Firefighters Struggle to Access the Scene
A reporter on the ground says firefighters arrived at the scene but have been unable to extinguish the fire due to the absence of accessible roads leading directly to the affected site. The North Industrial Area is known for its densely packed structures and narrow access points, which has reportedly slowed the emergency response.

Crews remain on the ground working to bring the flames under control, but as of the time of filing, the fire has not yet been fully contained.
Residents Watch Helplessly as Property Is LosExtent of Damage Still Unknown
At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, and officials have not yet released details on the extent of the damage or whether anyone has been injured. The North Industrial Area is a mixed-use zone, home to both commercial enterprises and residential dwellers, raising concerns about the potential scale of loss.
This is a developing story. We will continue to update as more information becomes available, including confirmation from the Ghana National Fire Service on containment efforts and any casualty or damage assessments.
Eyewitnesses in the area say they have watched their properties go up in flames, unable to step in or salvage their belongings because of how intense the fire has become. The emotional toll on residents and business owners is mounting as the fire continues to spread through the area.
